What the handbook actually is

The handbook is a personal affairs document prepared by the person who nominated you to use it. It holds the information only they knew – the day-to-day details that kept their life running. In their absence, the handbook shows what their wishes were and where key information can be found.

Having this critical information helps you make important decisions – things like funeral arrangements, caring for children or pets and finalising accounts — without you having to guess.

And what about the security paperwork that came with it (if applicable)

Some details are highly confidential. To protect that information, the handbook owner may have elected to use the 2DocLock™ Security System – a custom-built data protection option built and offered by Handbook of Your Life. You don’t need technical knowledge — we have created a dedicated video about this security system that will show you how to use it step-by-step.

The codes in the right-hand columns form part of the 2DocLock™ Security System. They are used to keep the more sensitive details private.

These codes are only relevant if the handbook owner chose to use the security system. If they did, you will also have been given (or told the location of) the extra security documents: the Security Manager and possibly the ICS List.

This may be the first time you’ve seen the handbook. Or you may have gone through it with the owner some time ago and it’s all a bit fuzzy now. Either way, you’re not alone.

Each handbook covers everything a person might need to document. If a section is blank, it usually means it wasn’t relevant to your loved one’s circumstances, so nothing needed to be written there.

Can I share the videos with other family members?

Yes. You can share the page link and password with immediate family members who are helping with arrangements.

The videos are designed for the person nominated in the handbook or the person acting as executor, so please keep that in mind. Without the handbook and security documents, the videos won’t make much sense to others.

The email should arrive within a few minutes. If you don’t see it, check Junk or Spam.

Email providers can occasionally delay messages also. If it’s still missing after 15 minutes, please use the form again or reach out via our main contact page.

When the handbook owner purchased their handbook, we gifted them unlimited support for the person they nominated to use it in their absence. That support is now yours. It’s free and it lasts for as long as you need it.
