Please read these Terms of Service carefully before purchasing or using any Handbook of Your Life® products or services. By placing an order, accessing our website, creating an account or using any service we provide (including Loved Ones Support), you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms.

Handbook of Your Life® is the registered business name owned by Natalie Verhoek, ABN 97 451 947 628.

These Terms apply alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in these Terms excludes, modifies or restricts your ACL protections.

1. NATURE OF OUR SERVICE

Handbook of Your Life® provides printed and digital organisational tools that help individuals prepare personal, household and end-of-life planning information for their loved ones. These include:

  • Handbook Kits
  • Security Manager
  • 2DocLock™ Security System
  • Integrated Codes System™ (ICS) and ICS List
  • Downloads, guides, training videos and related support services

These products are information-organisation tools only. They do not replace legal, financial, medical, mental-health or estate-planning advice. Nothing on our website or in our documents constitutes professional advice.

You are solely responsible for decisions you make using the Handbook Kits, the Handbook itself, 2DocLock™ and associated ICS List and Security Manager.

2. ONLINE STORE TERMS

You must not use our website or products for any unlawful or unauthorised purpose. You must not transmit malware, malicious code or harmful content.
A breach of these Terms may result in immediate termination of your access to our services.

3. COPYRIGHT

All content on the Handbook of Your Life® website, social channels, printed materials, PDFs, videos and marketing resources is owned exclusively by Natalie Verhoek T/A Handbook of Your Life®.

No content may be copied, reproduced, shared, adapted or distributed without prior written permission.

4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Handbook of Your Life® owns all intellectual property rights relating to:

  • Handbook Kits
  • 2DocLock™ Security System
  • Integrated Codes System™ (ICS) and associated ICS List and Security Manager
  • All downloads, templates and training materials
  • Website text, images, icons and design elements

You must not republish, sell, rent, sub-license, duplicate or redistribute any documents or materials without written consent.

The Handbook of Your Life® name, logos and product designs are protected by trademark, copyright and other IP rights.

5. USAGE RIGHTS – HANDBOOK, 2DOCLOCK™ ICS LIST AND SECURITY MANAGER

Your purchase entitles you to one printed Handbook and one printed Security Manager for your personal use.

You may not:

  • photocopy or reproduce any part of the Handbook Kits
  • share copies with family members, executors, lawyers or third parties
  • distribute printed or digital pages in any form
  • replicate the ICS List or Security Manager

Others may view your documents, but they cannot keep copies.

You are responsible for storing and protecting your Handbook and 2DocLock™ (ICS List and Security Manager) materials.

Handbook of Your Life® cannot recreate information that you did not enter or that has been lost, damaged, erased or misplaced.

6. TRADEMARKS & PATENTS

A provisional patent (2024900626, lodged 9 March 2024 and revised 4 August 2025) protects the concepts and structures used in the Handbook Kits and 2DocLock™ Security System.

Trademark applications are active for:

  • Handbook of Your Life®

7. CONTENT ACCURACY & WEBSITE INFORMATION

We aim to provide accurate information, but do not guarantee completeness or error-free content. Website information is general in nature and should not be relied upon as your sole source of decision-making.

We reserve the right to update content, correct errors or modify product details without notice.

8. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS – HANDBOOK KITS

Handbook Kits are not legal documents. They do not replace a Will, Enduring Power of Attorney, Advance Health Directive or any formal legal instrument.

You are responsible for:

  • ensuring your entries are correct and updated
  • keeping your documents organised and accessible
  • telling your nominated person where your Handbook is stored
  • maintaining a valid Will and any other legal documents
  • seeking professional advice where required

Handbook of Your Life® is not responsible for any consequences arising from incomplete, outdated or incorrect information entered into your Handbook or Security Manager.

9. SAFE STORAGE OF YOUR DATA

We recommend following the security guidelines provided within your Kit and using 2DocLock™ as intended.

However, you are solely responsible for:

  • security of Handbook handwritten information and storage
  • security of ICS List and Security Manager handwritten information and storage
  • ensuring your documents are accessible to your nominated person
  • protecting your physical and digital documents

We cannot recover:

• missing entries
• misplaced documents
• damages caused by improper storage or handling

10. ERRORS & OMISSIONS IN PRINTED MATERIAL

If you discover a printing error (layout, formatting or manufacturing issue), notify us via our contact form and we will replace or supply a corrected page at no cost.

This does not apply to user-entered errors.

11. KIT CUSTOMISATION SERVICE

Our paid Kit Customisation Service allows customers to request modifications to their Handbook or Security Manager prior to purchasing a Handbook Kit.

Work is performed for the number of hours purchased. If additional time is required, work pauses until further payment is made.

12. PERSONAL ASSISTANCE SERVICE

Personal assistance is billed per hour. Sessions may occur via phone, Zoom, Teams or similar. Additional time must be purchased before a session can continue.

13. LOVED ONES SUPPORT (FREE SERVICE)

Handbook of Your Life® provides free Loved Ones Support to help a nominated person understand how to use the Handbook and 2DocLock™Security System after a death or loss of capacity.

This service provides guidance only. We can explain how documents work, but we cannot:

  • access, recover or recreate missing information
  • override or bypass security settings or ICS codes
  • provide legal, financial, medical or estate-planning advice
  • act on behalf of the estate, family or executor
  • supply documents the owner did not complete
  • guarantee outcomes based on incomplete or incorrect documents

Loved Ones Support is a best-efforts service. Use of this service relies entirely on the accuracy and completeness of the owner’s documents.

Handbook of Your Life® is not liable for delays, confusion or outcomes resulting from:

  • missing or improperly stored documents
  • incomplete information
  • incorrectly entered customer-created field codes or ICS
  • handwritten content that is unclear or illegible
  • lack of access to required materials

14. MY ACCOUNT INFORMATION

You agree to provide complete, accurate and current account details for purchases and communications.

15. PAYMENTS (PAYPAL)

Payments are processed securely through PayPal. Handbook of Your Life® does not store payment card details.

Orders may be placed on hold if verification is required. If we cannot verify your order within 48 hours, it may be cancelled.

18. MODIFICATIONS TO PRODUCTS & PRICES

We may modify, discontinue or change product pricing at any time without notice.

19. COUPONS & EGIFT CARDS

Only one coupon or eGift Card may be used per order. Codes cannot be stacked.

eGift Cards have no expiry date. The validity of coupons may be time restricted depending on offer eg specials, discounts etc.

20. COMMUNITY PARTNERS PROGRAM

Approval for participation is at our discretion. We may display approved partner logos and website links as outlined in the program guidelines.

21. CUSTOMER REVIEWS & TESTIMONIALS

Customer reviews may be moderated. Reviews containing external links will not be approved. We may display partial review snippets in testimonials using a first name, suburb and state only.

22. INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE

Information submitted through forms, email, helpdesk or support channels is confidential and handled according to our Privacy Policy.

23. EMAIL, HELPDESK & LIVE CHAT RECORDS

Helpdesk tickets and emails may be retained for business record-keeping. Live chat transcripts are deleted once the enquiry is complete.

24. THIRD-PARTY LINKS

We are not responsible for third-party websites, products or services linked from our website.

25. PROHIBITED USES

You must not use our website or services for unlawful, harmful, defamatory, fraudulent, abusive or malicious activity, including distributing malware or interfering with website security.

26. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

Our website and services are provided “as is” and “as available”.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, accuracy of results or error-free operation.

Use of all products and services is at your own risk.

27. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Handbook of Your Life® is not liable for:

  • direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss
  • loss of profits, revenue, savings or data
  • delays or issues related to estate or probate processes
  • incorrect information entered by the owner
  • missing, incomplete or outdated information
  • reliance on website content or printed materials
  • outcomes related to Loved Ones Support or 2DocLock™ usage

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to replacement of the Kit or refund of the purchase price.

28. INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify Handbook of Your Life® and its representatives against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of our products.

29. SEVERABILITY

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect.

30. TERMINATION OF SERVICE

We may terminate your access for breach of these Terms. Your obligations survive termination.

31. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These Terms, together with associated policies, form the entire agreement between you and Handbook of Your Life®.

32. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any legal action must be filed in Toowoomba, Queensland.

33. CHANGES TO TERMS

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued website use constitutes acceptance of changes.
