Dementia Action Week (AU)

Loading Events

Dementia Action Week is an Australian national awareness week held each year to raise awareness of dementia and promote actions that support people living with the condition.

The week focuses on reducing stigma, encouraging understanding and supporting practical changes in communities, workplaces and services so people with dementia can live well and remain connected.

Why this matters

  • Dementia affects hundreds of thousands of Australians and touches nearly every family in some way.
  • People living with dementia often experience stigma, isolation, and misunderstanding.
  • Small changes in how we communicate and design environments can make a significant difference.
  • Early action supports independence, safety, and dignity for longer.
  • Planning ahead helps ensure wishes are respected as needs change.

Dementia Action Week reminds us that dementia is not just a medical issue, it is a community responsibility.
